Introducing the Support at Home program
From 1 November 2025, the Support at Home program will begin. It replaces Home Care Packages and Short-Term Restorative Care with a single, simpler system for in-home aged care.
Funding Classifications
Your funding classification is set through an aged care assessment. The new program introduces eight classifications, with budgets allocated quarterly.

Short-term Pathways
Flexible support that responds to your changing circumstances and life stages.
AT-HM Scheme
Provides funding for layout modifications or equipment (like grab rails, ramps, or mobility aids) prescribed by health professionals.
End of Life Pathway
Specialist services that help you remain comfortable and supported at home during the final stages of life with dignity.
Restorative Care
Up to 12 weeks of short-term support designed to help you get back on your feet after illness, injury, or hospital stay.

Support at Home services are grouped into three distinct areas to simplify your planning and budgeting.
Government Funding Note
The government pays the full cost of clinical care. Contributions apply for Independence and Everyday Living.
Clinical Supports
Nursing, allied health, therapies, and medical support.
Independence
Personal assistance, mobility support, social support, and transport.
Everyday Living
Cleaning, laundry, meals, gardening, and home maintenance.
Contribution Settings
"No worse off rule": ensures grandfathered participants pay the same or less than they do now.
Participant Scenarios
GRANDFATHERED
Approved on or before 12 Sept 2024. Fully protected by the "no worse off" rule.
TRANSITIONED
Approved after 12 Sept 2024 but before 1 Nov 2025. Move to new settings based on status.
NEW ENTRANTS
Approved on or after 1 Nov 2025. Start directly under the new rules.
